Cecil Barrow

Bridge over the Glyde at Mayne.

1998

Watercolour on paper

55 x 45 cm

Purchased from Shall We Gather at the River exhibition, Basement Gallery, April 1998.

Cecil Barrow’s landscapes represent many different areas of Louth using watercolours and oils. This scene is sketchily painted, giving expression and movement to the work which is characteristic of an artist working outside striving to capture subtle incidences of light and movement. Cecil Barrow studied for three years Central School of Architecture in London. He was a member of the Watercolour Society of Ireland and a founder member of the North Louth Artists. He died in 2002.
