European Ideas Competition

European Ideas Competition: Find a “Common Thread for the Commission
As part of its new architectural policy, the European Commission is launching a European competition to find ideas for a ‘Common Thread for the Commission’, or ideas to give the buildings and building clusters that it occupies in the cities of Brussels and Luxembourg a symbolic common thread with the aim of making the Commission more visible and recognisable to the general public.

The competition is open to students who are EU citizens and enrolled at an institute of higher education in architecture, art, design or other discipline such as fine arts, graphic arts, visual communication, graphic design or a related discipline.

The competition winner will receive €3,000 and the second and third prize winners will receive €2,000 and €1,000 each, respectively. The competition winner and the two runners up will also be invited to a prize-giving ceremony in Brussels in December 2010. Their travel and accommodation expenses for participating in the prize-giving ceremony will be covered by the Commission.

The deadline for uploading entries to the competition is midnight, Brussels time, on 30 September 2010.
